Samurai's Blood issue #1 cover

To be published next year thru Image is a mini-series based upon the Samurai's Blood film series. This is the first of the covers I will be producing for the book.

Jo Chen Art Book (Limited Edition) Now Available!

A beautiful, limited edition book of many of my cover illustrations is now available. The book measures 8.5" x 11.75" and contains approximately 140 pages of high quality reproductions of my cover paintings, bound in a powerfoil cover. I oversaw the printing and it looks great. Text is Chinese.

Only 1,500 were printed and are not available at this time through any retailer or distributor. Just me.

The book is priced at $45 plus shipping and handling. A deluxe book package is also available that includes a custom made carry case, a sketchbook and a set of postcards with my art, priced at only $65 plus shipping and handling.

Jo Chen at Otakon 2010 in Baltimore, MD on Sat. July 31 thru Sun. August 1

I had such a good time with my friends at UDON Comics at SDCC last weekend that I will be joining them again at Otakon 2010 at the Baltimore Convention Center this weekend.

I look forward to seeing you there. I will have copies of my limited edition art book for sale which includes many of my covers for Street Fighter, Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 8, Runaways, Robin, Thor, Speed Racer, etc. Also prints, posters and the usual.

Look for me at the UDON Comics booth. Who knows...you may even be able to coerce me into a sketch or two!

Jo Chen FABLE III package art for XBOX special edition

This is one of two pieces of key art that I painted for the new FABLE III game due in October 2010. Todd Elhart of Hubris Studios, my art director on this, and I put a lot of crazy hours into this one. It will be worth the wait!!!

Meet Jo Chen at San Diego Comic Con 2010!

Jo will attend San Diego Comic Con 2010 and be available for meet & greets, signings, portfolio reviews and good old fashioned gabbing from Friday July 23 thru Sunday July 25.

She will also have a limited number of copies of her illustration book for sale, packed with beautiful, full-color reproductions of many of her most popular comic book covers including Buffy the Vampire Slayer - Season 8, Runaways and Street Fighter.

You can find her with her good friends at the UDON Comics booth, just across from the Capcom display, where she will be stationed for the better part of all three days

Dark Horse Comics will also feature a Jo Chen signing at the Dark Horse booth on Sunday from 12 - 1 PM! Be there AND be square.

Jo Chen to attend FanimeCon in San Jose, CA, May 28 - 31

I will be attending 'FanimeCon 2010' from May 28 - 31 in San Jose, California. Yea!

I won't, however, be attending as a guest. No forced, painful opening and closing ceremonies, no panels, no workshops, etc! Yea!!

I will, in fact, be stationed at the Yaoi-Con booth in the Fanime Dealers' Room. Many of you know of or have attended Yaoi-Con in San Francisco (you naughty, filthy deviates). So, look for me at the Yaoi-Con booth, where I will be meeting con-goers, reviewing portfolios, signing comic books and doujin, and selling copies of my new, limited edition illustration art book. Please come by to say hi and sign up for Yaoi-Con.

Spike revised - Buffy Season 8 issue #36 cover

After a few comments were made on whedonesque.com about how I flubbed Spike's eye color on the latest Buffy Season 8 color, I conferred with editor supreme, Scott Allie, who confirmed that "Yeah, the eyes should have been blue..." and that the actor has some sort of scar on one of his brows. I never noticed these things, or if I did at one time have forgotten them. And nobody mentioned anything to me when I submitted the final painting. I think it may have been noticed by Dark Horse and JW but maybe they didn't wish to pester me to make such small changes.

Miffed, I went back to look at my reference material and his eyes still looked brown to me but clearly the material was misleading. Night scenes, shadows, etc. So, now his eyes are blue and there is a hint of a scar on his brow.

I hope that everybody is happy or at least happier now. Can't please everybody at all points but I do my best. This should be more to everybody's liking. They were simple changes to make.

Meet Jo Chen at The Pittsburgh Comicon, April 23 - 25

Pittsburgh was my first American convention when I moved to the U.S. in the mid 1990s. I was pretty scared and didn't know what to expect. Needless to say, I had a great time and everybody was very nice to me. It helped set the tone.

I will have plenty of prints (Devil May Cry, Street Fighters, Darkstalkers, etc.), copies of my sketchbooks and of my limited edition illustration book. Bring your Buffy and Runaways issues and trades and I'll sign what you like.

Jo Chen at Collector's Corner and D.C. Comicon May 1 - 2

There will be two chances to meet Jo in the first week of May. On Saturday May 1st, Jo returns to Collector's Corner in Baltimore, MD on FREE COMIC BOOK DAY for a day of coolness with food, drink, heroes, artists and fans. It was a blast last year and this year promises to be even better in the shop's new digs. Jo will be there with copies of her new art book and prints and will sign anything you put in front of her (well almost anything).

The following day, Sunday May 2, Jo will be a guest at the first D.C. Comicon, being held at George Mason University in Fairfax, VA. This also will be a happening scene with tons of great artists, dealers and events.
